Purpose:The Business Leader for Stable Value at Athene is responsible for leading Athene’s growth of a new product line. This role will have P&L accountability for the businesses and requires leadership in innovation, business building, and ability to work collaboratively to leverage Athene’s and Apollo Global Management’s combined strengths for market leadership.
Accountabilities:
- Strategic Leadership and P&L Management: Direct comprehensive activities of the stable value business, ensuring robust financial performance. Manage all aspects of P&L, integrating strategic planning, financial oversight, and market responsiveness to drive revenue growth and profitability
- Strategy Development, Budgeting, and Execution: Develop a comprehensive strategy for Athene to enter the Stable Value market, assessing the competitive landscape and areas for highest potential for a new entrant, assessing Athene and Apollo competitive advantages and how they can be leveraged to enter the market, and defining an operating model to bring products to market including the development of in-house capabilities and integration of vendor solutions. Create a business plan including revenue and income forecasts and required investments. Establish KPIs and deliver against P&L and KPIs
- Product Development and Innovation: Lead the development and delivery of market-leading stable value products, emphasizing innovative solutions that meet evolving market demands and client needs while managing risks effectively. Work with existing Athene and Apollo leaders in product and asset management to structure and price general account, separate account and wrap products. Identify opportunities for innovation in bringing new solutions to market
- Market Engagement: Actively engage with the market through strategic outreach, leveraging insights and networks to identify potential clients. Customize product solutions to meet specific client needs, ensuring a competitive edge in product offerings and client service. Establish Athene’s brand in the market through industry engagement such as conferences and thought leadership. Work with Marketing team on external outreach and brand building
- Risk Management and Governance: Establish and maintain governance, oversight, and risk management strategies to proactively identify, assess, and mitigate business risks, aligning with Athene’s risk tolerance and regulatory standards
- Team Leadership: Lead the formation and scaling of a high-performing team, promoting a culture of excellence and innovation. Create a collaborative working model among resources at Athene and Apollo to leverage collective expertise, resources, and networks for accelerated business growth
Qualifications and Experience:
- A minimum of [15] years of industry experience in annuities/life insurance, with proven P&L leadership and strategic management. 5+ years in Stable Value business highly desired
- Demonstrated entrepreneurial success in building new businesses or business lines from inception to scale and profitability
- Expertise in innovation, with a track record of developing and launching market-leading products and solutions
- Strong capabilities in risk management, governance, and compliance, with an emphasis on developing and implementing effective risk mitigation strategies
- Excellent leadership and team development skills, with experience in fostering collaborative environments to drive growth and attracting, retaining and driving high performance of team diverse team members
